More about Mosquito Lagoon: East Central Florida is home to the World Famous Mosquito Lagoon which is located in the northern part of the Indian River Lagoon system and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Less than an hour’s drive from Orlando and within 30 minutes of Daytona Beach. Mosquito Lagoon extends from Ponce de Leon Inlet to the north end of Merritt Island and it connects to the Indian River via the Haulover Canal. The Lagoon divides the city of New Smyrna Beach and also runs next to the Canaveral National Seashore on Cape Canaveral and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Kennedy Space Center is located on the lagoon as well.
